Building resilient teams under pressure

Most teams don’t fall apart during a crisis because of the crisis itself – they fall apart because the cracks were already there, and pressure just made them visible.

The teams that hold up share three habits: they over-communicate rather than under-communicate when things get uncertain, they protect a small set of non-negotiable standards rather than trying to hold everything steady, and they debrief quickly rather than waiting for a formal review months later.

None of this is complicated. It’s also not natural under pressure, which is exactly why it has to be practiced before the pressure arrives.
